Christine Le Maitre
Reader in Musculoskeletal Disorders
Christine is Head of Musculoskeletal research group in the Biomolecular Sciences Research Centre at Sheffield Hallam University. Her independent scientific career began in Manchester University under a Wellcome funded PhD investigating: the role of IL-1 in intervertebral disc degeneration.
Her research focuses on investigating the pathogenesis of musculoskeletal disorders and novel therapies targeting pathogenesis and regenerative approaches. Her research to date has lead to 2 patents, over 50 publications with ~2000 citations a current H index of 22 and ~2 million in grant income to date. She has been invited to present her research at a number of national and international meetings and has supervised 7 PhD students to completion and currently supervises 6 further students and is the postgraduate research tutor for the Biomolecular Sciences Research Centre.
She is a STEM ambassador and passionate about disseminating research to schools and the public.
